My commitment to restoring your quality of life will center around a minimalistic approach that will take each patient’s individual needs and lifestyle into consideration. Patients suffering from spine conditions have unique demands. During your initial visit, we will thoroughly go over your history, symptoms, prior treatment, and any unique demands your life may have. Then together, we will construct a tailored plan typically starting with the least invasive and non-operative options first. These options may include physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, medications or epidural steroid injections. For many patients, they will be able to return to their prior quality of life with one or several of these treatments. If these conservative treatments do not provide relief or improvement, then surgical options will be presented. Surgical options that provide the most relief while creating the least body disruption will be offered first.
My philosophy of achieving our treatment goal with the least amount of body disruption will lead us to minimally invasive options first. Today’s spine surgery is different than the past. Techniques and outcomes are measured by quick recoveries with small incisions and reproducible positive outcomes. While some spine issues do not have minimally invasive treatment options, medical literature tells us that minimally invasive techniques results in decreased blood loss, shorter hospital stay, less post-surgical pain, and minimal need for pain medication. Many of these procedures can be done as an outpatient further optimizing patient outcome and experience.
Returning to your quality of life will rely on a close, trusting relationship between you and your surgeon. I look forward to creating this relationship and providing these surgical and non-surgical solutions to your spine related problems.
